Is this a Router specific Adapter? Meaning it will only work with a Certain Model and or just linksys models? Or would it work with Asus - Netgear - Etc... ?

I purchased this card knowing it was made by the same company as my router. I am using Windows seven Home Premium 64 bit O.S and it works great. However under the Specifications it requires Windows 2000, XP, Vista, or Vista 64-bit and should work with any router that has WEP, WPA & WPA2. Under features it has Compatibility with Wireless-A (802.11a), Wireless-B (802.11b) and Wireless-G (802.11g) Router Standards.

Is this a good card for gaming/live streaming/uploading videos etc?

It is a decent card to work with, yes but since you mentioned gaming I personally would not recommend anything wireless at all.

This card was bought for a user that doesnt play games and just is just using it for video streaming and browsing. it is a decent card yes but when you throw gaming into the mix, I wouldnt recommend any wireless card at all.

Is this adapter compatible with Windows 8.1 64-bit?

On Linksys support site, it shows the driver supported on Vista 32/64. I found in a Google search that a user was able to get it to work in Windows 8.1 by manually installing the Vista driver.

currently have a Linksys wmp300n in the back of my computer.  dated 08/2008.  I think it died.  will the wmp600n work? if not, what can I do to get my wireless working again?

I'm sorry - I actually don't know. When I purchased the adapter, I thought it would work with my computer but then when I took it to the tech to install, he informed me it was not compatible. I forgot what he told me was the reason. I had to buy a D-Link adaptor instead. I still have the Linksys - too late for Newegg return. Sorry, you should ask a tech person for help.

Is this compatible with an a880gz biostar motherboard?

Yah it should work with any motherboard that has a PCI 2 slot. You should be able to look in your manual of the motherboard and It well tell you what slots it has. Then you just buy a wireless card to match the slot

Is it possible to replace one or both of the antennas with an external one (i.e. connected by a cord)? My desktop is within a desk, and I fear that reception would be bad otherwise.

my desktop is as well and it is no different than my laptop.  unless the desk is made of concrete.  Just make sure not to damage the antennae
