Pros: Nice packaging.

Cons: Don't buy this drive with the expectation of 8x BD-ROM read performance. Newegg claims 8x BD-ROM. The box states 8x BD-ROM for single-layer titles and 4x BD-ROM for dual-layer titles. These numbers are extremely generous. Most Blu-ray titles are dual-layer (BD50). Actual read performance with this drive on dual-layer titles is only 3.3x (average), according to Nero DiskSpeed 5. Compare that to 5.97x (average) for the Pioneer BDR-203BK and 7.02x (average) for the Sony BWU-300S. All tested using Casino Royale. This product is non-refundable from Newegg.com.

Overall Review: The Lite-On has a P-CAV mechanism. Some 4x and 6x BD-ROM readers sold by Newegg are faster than this so called "8x" drive...at least on dual-layer titles, which make up the majority of Blu-ray movie titles. Read speed doesn't make a difference during playback, but it makes a substantial difference when using AnyDVD HD to backup your Blu-ray disks. With the Sony BWU-300S and Panasonic SW-5584, you can "rip" a dual-layer title in 25 minutes. "Ripping" the same title with this Lite-On drive takes closer to 65 minutes.

Pros: * SATA * All-in-One optical drive capability (BD, DVD, CD, burner, lightscribe) * 8x Blu-ray * Quiet Operation during playback I bought this for my HTPC build and I have been happy with it. I have been building my HDD-based movie library [especially the kids movies, as a backup] and the drive has performed flawlessly.

Cons: Doesn't remotely start the car - which is what the wife would rather me spend money on :)

Overall Review: Not really a con, but if I were LITE-ON and trying to make this a perfect choice for and HTPC build, I would considering adding a solid-color, no-writing bezel option. I ahppened to choose a case (Silverstone LC-17B) that has it's own aluminum bezel cover, but for some HTPC cases the drive front is exposed.

Pros: Speed is great for watching Blu-ray flicks.

Cons: Had this drive since July of last year. About 4 months ago it quit reading DVD's and burning DVD's yet it could play blu-ray just fine. Contacted Lite-On 2 months ago and their RMA process is crazy. I keep having to send them emails requesting updates. Either they make so many excellent drives that the RMA process isn't needed much or they have a difficult time doing simple things.

Overall Review: I will let you know if they ever get around to processing my RMA>

Pros: Super smooth solid operation, little viberation, quiet during dvd burning or disk playing, solid feel, tray opens and closes smooth and solid,The unit has a bit heavy feel. Plays all the bluray disks I own and havent needed to do a firmware update yet. Excellant price.

Cons: has a operating green LED instead of Blue. Oh well opened face plate and solder the green LED out and in with a blue LED. Same old basic Lite-on design.

Overall Review: Seams better overall quility than the LG UH08LS10 bluray combo i have in another build, though not as flashly or as attractive as the LG. Tray is super smooth and quiet and opens quick and the unit has a heavier feel. And in other reviews the most bluray problems lye in the software and not in the hardware. Dont knock the drive if the software wont function properly. Some software will play some blurays and some will play other and some wont play at all. Software or firmware is not a set standared yet as the bluray industry keeps changing their encryption almost everyday. So till then it is who's who on playback.

Pros: Cheapest way to get into the Blu-Ray arena if you haven't already (or if you stood in line for 8 hours on Black Friday to get one of those $20 no-name players from the big box stores...). Comes with a sata cable and a CD with Power DVD 8. I already had Power DVD 10 and 7 Professional detected without having to do anything.

Cons: Doesn't burn BDs?

Overall Review: I'm honestly not sure why I even got a Blu-Ray player. Probably just to say I have one but with the prices of some discs out there $30-$40 I find that I almost never buy hardcopy movies anymore. Either netflix or OnDemand or whatever and I can watch in HD on my TV via my computer. I picked up a $15 copy of Kingdom of Heaven Director's cut to test this thing out tho and it works fine. Don't really see a point to getting a BD-Burner either. Hardcopy media will be obsolete in the next decade when broadband speeds become simply ludicrous.

Pros: Works just fine! No compatibility problems or software issues. Blu-Ray plays great!

Pros: It worked for a while, at times?

Cons: I HATE Liteon, I used to put them in my builds for customers for a couple of years, and they have a 75 percent FAILURE rate in the first Year. I can estimate prob at least installing 65-75 in that time frame/ I only use LG, Asus, or Samsung now. Hardly ANY issues, with those brands! THE ONLY reason I bought this, is I wanted to get into Blueray at the time, and 49 bucks Seemed like a Bargain. Since the others were almost double that. But same ole liteon quality, just with a more expenive price tag. Stopped reading BLURay. I only have watched maybe 7-8 Blueraymovies the last year on this player and now NOTHING. It reads DVD, and CD's fine, But I would of spent 17 bucks if thats the kid of player I wanted. Stay away from Liteon, this drive was 10 months old. I use Cyberlink 11, and am happy with it.

Overall Review: I even did a expert job of cleaning the lens, but nope. Sigh Last firmware update was 12/10, so that shows ya how much they really support thier new product line. One thing you can rely on liteon for, is knowing your renting a DVD Device for a few months, then shopping for a replacment,
