NO. The power supply is turned on by computer. It has several voltages present but will not turn on completely until told to by the motherboard which is in turn turned on by the start button. I had sold hundreds of these supplies in the past. I had to stop, because I was getting too many failures.

i have a amd 64x2 core processor 2.3 ghz computer system .will this psu work with it ?

Without knowing what else you've got in your system, I'd say this should work with for you.  Just make sure you check the dimensions of the power supply to fit in your case, and make sure it has the right amount and kind of power connections for all your components.  You can do a web search for a power supply calculator to determine if you need more than this, but I've never had a problem with this one and I'm running an i7 quad core processor in mine.

Is it compatible with motherboards that have a 24 pin main connector? Or just 20 pin.

The power supply is compatible with both 20-pin and 24-pin connector motherboards. The main connector is a 20+4 pin connector, meaning it comes with a standard 20-pin connector for 20-pin motherboards, and a separate 4-pin connector to provide compatibility with 24-pin boards.

What does the BK model have that the non-BK don't have?

The primary reason for the bk designation is a part number for the black painted unit. Both units are identical with the exception of the BK has more sata power connectors (3) as apposed to the standard model (1). They are both single rail power supplies with the same input and output voltage. The same warranty applies to both units. I just purchased two of these units (BK) and I am very happy with them.

Im going to be running this with an AMD X4 860k CPU, and a GTX 750 ti, I need this to last for atleast 6 months, until I can get a new PSU, can it?

Ok, so there's no generic answer for this question.  First of all, you have to look at that 750 ti and see if it needs a power cable just for itself.  If it does, this PSU doesn't have it BUT your video card should have come with an adapter (like 2 molex or peripheral ends for 1 PCIe 4+2 pin).  If you have the adapter the 750ti only recommends a 300w PSU so it should work fine.  BUT if you're using those 4 pin connectors instead of SATA then it might not since you'd need them for other things.  You only have 3 SATA and 4 Molex (4-pin) ends, so look at what you have to power first, if you can use 2 of the molex ends for your adapter then you're good to go.  If you can't or don't have an adapter, then you can't.

Does this power supply have a -5v output?

All atx power supplies supply both 12 v and 5 v to the system. I would recommend a higher quality of power supplies. I know is attractive because of the price but I have Seen cheap power supplies burn up system components quickly. I would look at rosewill as that brand is a very nice compromise between quality and price. I have installed more than 100 and have yet to have a bad one.

Question 7

If I use this PSU in a dual PSU setup, and use this one to trip the 2nd one, will this do what it needs to be able to do? Is this sufficiently reliable that it will work the first time every time? It would probably be just powering a mobo and all cards connected to it with the other psu powering fans and drives.

Not sure that I can answer that question properly. since I've never done the kind of thing you are talking about.
I bought this PS for a budget build and because it is a budget PS I don't expect an awful lot from it. It is perfectly fine for what I am using it for though. It has performed just fine for me so far.
(Intel DG33FB  MB - E6300 Pentium 2.8 - 1gb GPU).
