Pros: This is a decent camera. I'm using it with some free dvr-style software in linux. I use this, among others, to monitor my reef tank when I am away from home. The quality is pretty good.
Cons: I can't really name any. It works great for my purposes.
Pros: beautiful clear picture but after a while........
Cons: after about the first week it developed faint vertical lines. Took back, got another, same thing. Don't usually write reviews and I didn't buy it here, but as Newegg is probably my favorite place to shop, I should warn y'all...there is a reason it's so cheap...just spend the extra dough and get the C525 or even the 920 but just not this one...seriously
Overall Review: Go online and look up c270 vertical lines....7,620 results, mostly from forums with dozens of posts with the problem...
Pros: Good value / performance / price from a well-known manufacturer.
Works easily on Windows 10 and Ubuntu. Swapping it among computers hasn't been a problem, it has worked on all three I have tried. It significantly outperforms the built-in camera and microphone on my 10-year-old laptop.
Image quality is high.
Sound quality is adequate for most uses.
Cons: I have three minor disappointments
- The USB chord could be about 12" to 18" (30 to 45 cm) longer.
- The clamp / stand could affix to the monitor a little more securely - it is easily bumped and misaligned, especially when the chord is stretched near its limit.
- The could be an indication / enable / override control on the unit itself to know when either the audio or the video is operational (there is a visual indication when the video camera is active).
All of these features feature are available on more expensive systems (or the lens cover as an add-on feature). They are not part of the feature set at this value-point; nor did I expect that.
Overall Review: I purchased this for my son's use for middle school classes. It has worked well for that, his music work, my work, and our club meetings. I have been complemented on the quality of video it provides. We are both taking music lessons. The video quality is exceeds the need for that. However, for music performance and lessons, I recommend a higher quality microphone to supplement this unit if you intend to use it for that application.
Pros: Smaller than it appeared on the web page.
Cons: It took a bit longer than normal to receive after the order was placed. It was shipped from China.
Overall Review: It works well. Provides a sharp picture and good sound. The unit is small and is easy to mount on the edge of a laptop or larger screen.
Pros: Easy set up with Windows 10. Plug and play.
Image quality was on par with what I've seen from the typical laptop.
Cons: The optional Logi software was easy to download and had a few settings for adjustment but it didn't help the video quality to any real degree.
The video quality was very poor compared to what I see from the camera on my Microsoft Surface.
Overall Review: I would recommend this product for someone looking for a typical webcam. I use a Surface Pro and in my home office I plug into a large monitor. I need a webcam for the monitor vs using the one on the Surface. The Surface camera is AWESOME! The result is that I'm sending this camera back because it's good but far from the Surface image quality.
In short, it's good and easy to use but not great and I'm looking for great.
Pros: Very high quality and easy to set up. Can easily be mounted on a laptop or desktop monitor. Very low price for everything you get.
Cons: Only con is after initial installation with software provided I couldn't launch the webcam software normally. I had to go into the folder it was installed in and run the application as admin once. After that everything worked fine. This is a non-issue as well.
For anyone that may experience this the directory for the "launcher_main" is
I wouldn't worry about this happening however.
Overall Review: Good for chatting in skype, tinychat, omegle, and other disturbing websites that you want a webcam for as well.
Pros: HD. Size. Microphone. Setup. Works with Linux
Overall Review: A solid buy for the money. Linux recognized it out of the gate. Excellent for Skype.
Overall Review: The odd-looking adjustable base has worked better than expected in every location we've placed it, which includes different desktop monitors, a standing desk base, and a laptop. The audio and video are both better than the laptop hardware we had been using, and those I conference with have commented on it.
