Is the microphone detachable ?

Yes, the microphone can just be unplugged by pulling and has a standard "headphone" jack so you could even swap it out with a different one if you really wanted to. Its position is also adjustable, and it seems to stay in place well enough. I've had it for about 1.5 years at this point with no issues.
