Is this webcam compatible with a tripod?

Yes, absolutely. I've set it up on a tripod for multiple Facebook Live opportunities. The camera is most effective when setting it up near your video subject. I've found it to be a worthwhile purchase, especially at its price point.

How good is the C922x microphone's background noise reduction? Sometimes I play without a headset and I'm concerned if I can use the webcam's integrated microphone without it picking up my mechanical keyboard noise (Cherry MX Speed switches) and some low playing music from the speakers

It’s pretty good but your switches are naturally very loud so it’s most likely going to pick up. Honestly you might just want to use a gate on whatever recording software you use.

is this usb 2.0 or 3.0 and do i need an app to take pictures with it?

Believe it's 2.0 and you do need an app to at least view the webcam. But it does work well with most streaming applications.
