Can/does this clip on - in other words, can it clip on to the top of a monitor?

Yes, as long as it's a thin enough monitor!

The base that you can see in the pictures is flexible, with two flat pieces and a lip on the front to keep it from falling off.

The distance between the front lip and the hinge for the second flat piece is one inch, so if you have a space that thick or thinner, you can clip it easily.

If the space is thicker than that, you might still be okay - that second flat piece is rubbery, so it will grip pretty well. You can't clip it on in that case, but it will survive.

Does it work with Zoom, Facebook Live and other conference calling applications?

Yes I have used it regularly with Zoom and Skype at least. Really good sound and image quality. I use Linux and have not needed to find drivers or anything. Just plug it in and it works. It is also pretty easy to adjust the angle although it is not a real secure attachment. It sort of balances on top of the monitor.

Neophyte question here . . . never used a webcam before.  How simple is it to attach this to my desktop monitor?  Does it have to fasten to the top, or can it be mounted on the side?

See the kind of foldy bits underneath in the picture?  They're hinged, and are weighted.  The only way it "fastens" to anything is by counterbalancing those weighted panels.  I have this sitting on the top of my monitor, and while it doesn't look stable, and it doesn't really grab onto the monitor in a strong way, it sits up there in a very sturdy way, as long as I tuck the cable away so it doesn't get tugged on.

how long is the usb cord?

Its really short, about 3ft. If you're considering this camera I'd suggest also buying a USB extension cable.

Is this camera for laptop or desktop comuter?

This WebCam should work equally well on a laptop or a desktop. The base is set up to sit on the top of your monitor and can be adapted for monitors of different thicknesses. I use it mostly with my desktop. Good luck!

Can this tilt downwards in order to angle towards the ground? My monitor is about the same height as me but I tend to not sit up straight, so I was wondering if it would be possible it aim this lower so I can still be seen in my natural sitting position?

It is currently sitting on my monitor and it tilts down almost far enough to capture my whole keyboard which is sitting only about 6 inches in front of my monitor. Yes I wouldn't see you having a problem with getting it to angle at you.

Windows 10 compatible?

Absolutely.  I upgraded to Windows 10 about two weeks ago and it's used mainly for facial recognition.  I had facial recognition under Windows 8.2.  It worked perfectly then and continues to work seemlessly with Windows 10.  Incidently, a great little camera.

will it work on windows 8 or 8.1?

I am using the C525 on Windows 8.1. (and previously on Windows 8).  Windows automatically found, downloaded and installed the software and drivers as soon as I plugged in the device.

Question 10

Is it possible to enable the use of the microphone separately? For example, adding audio commentary for an existing video, or live commentary for during streaming?

Yes.  It shows up as a separate microphone under Windows recording devices.  Currently showing sound levels without anything else open or using it.
