Pros: -True 1080p sensor means this camera is pretty future proof. -Stereo microphones allows for excellent noise cancellation. -Auto-focus works perfectly so long as you don't have anything moving in the back ground, like a TV. If you have a TV (or something else that moves; cars outside your house, etc.) it will try to refocus everything it detects the movement. I suspect pets might even trigger it as well - so this could be a "pro" or "con", depending on your situation - but you can turn the auto-focus off. A "pro" for me, since nothing like this is the background of my camera frame. -Software adds some nice additional functionality, without making you feel like it's a waste of hard drive space (even on a 1Tb drive) - though the "skins" you can place over yourself in video is kinda lame and doesn't really work.
Cons: The bracket doesn't even fit on my monitor (ASUS VE247H) - or at least it doesn't in the middle. I had to put the camera just before the left-hand 1/3 point in order for it to fit (it would fit even better at the very edge). This means I need to zoom and aim the camera in order to not be sitting off to the side of the frame. I also dislike how the camera sits out a good inch from the monitor as well - it just looks weird, jutting out there. These are somewhat trivial, I know - but for the price this camera costs, I expect a bracket that not only fits my monitor (a fairly standard sized one as well) but doesn't look half-bad doing it, worth knocking off 2 eggs. Being able to rotate the camera would have been nice too. I would have much preferred the mounting system on a similar caliber camera made by a company who's name implies "tiny software" - but I liked the senor and lens on this one better. I'm probably just going to make my own bracket at some point, but it's just one more
Overall Review: The title pretty much says it all. A true 1080p sensor means it has the potential to do 1080p video calling once software and networks are up to the task, but the bracket leaves a lot to be desired (bordering on being non-functional). The software is a bit of a joke - but you don't *have* to install it, which is nice in this day and age where *every* accessory you buy requires that you install their bloatware in order to operate their device. Logitech usually a big offender in this category, so kudos to them for making a step in the right direction. I will say this about the software though, it opens up a bunch more options for the camera and wasn't completely atrocious - and, you don't need to leave it on to keep your settings active and from reverting to the default (like other Logitech software in the past and present). I will update in about a month with any additional thoughts or changes in opinions
