will these work on a tv?

If your TV has a 3.5 mm Jack AKA headphone jack then yes, but they will be quieter than normal TV speakers. I would only use if they are to replace damaged speakers.

What are the dimensions? I have limited space.

Small. I have packed them away for moving at the moment, otherwise I would measure them for you. The speakers are a little larger than a 12 oz soda can. The sub woofer is the size of 4 soda cans. The sound is great, with regards to the size. There is no grill or protective front over the speakers. I bought them for the volume control knob and headphone jack (note the volume control dial doesn't work when the headphones are plugged in- you have to control the volume on your computer). Hope this helps. If you have limited space this is a great bang for the buck, although the sub woofer, as far as I can tell, is superfluous.
