Do I still need to purchase an LSI MegaRAID Battery Backup Unit (LSIBBU09) for my LSI 9266 card after installing the CacheVault Kit (LSICVM01)? Or this an "XOR" option; one or the other, but not both.

No. In this kit, the "Cache Vault Power Module" acts as a battery backup. I just installed one in December.
