I have very simple pre-encoded cards: there is a 4 digit number stamped on the card and that is the only data contained on the strip.  All I want to do is be able to swipe these cards and be able to confirm that number.  Does this come with software that will display the data on the strip, or that will deposit that data on an Excel spreadsheet?

Accepted Answer

The product does not come with any software to display the information on the magnetic stripe reader. However, if you open notepad and scan the card you will be able to see the digits. you can then save the file and use DDE poke to import it into Excel. Import the file using Text to Columns and then use the LEFT command to grab the first 4 digits in case there are extra characters.
Or just manually input it into Excel as it gets displayed in the text file.

No. Need for another merchant account.. this is a keyboard swiped or hid swiped reader... Just plug and swipe... If you need the keyboard one you have to change the hid to keyboard internally... Otherwise by the keyboard only one makes life easier.
