Soak the wooden wick in olive oil for at least 20 minutes to 1 hour, allowing the wood to fully absorb the oil. Wipe off the excess oil so as to avoid excessive oil spill during candle making, which will affect the appearance and burning effect of the candle.
Heat the wax to melt and add your favourite scented and pigment.
Insert the wick and trim the top of the wick slightly above the waxed surface, about 1/4 inch (6 mm) is better.
Pour melted wax around the wick and keep it upright. Let it cool and solidify at room temperature. Avoid moving the candle during curing to avoid damaging the surface of the candle.
PS: Making a large candle, it's perfect to use multiple wicks for a more even burn.
