Is a little tricky, but a very clean design... And I had no clue either.

There are 4 tiny screws on the sides which you need to remove with a jeweler's screwdriver. (That's the easy part.) Now each side... I.e. the front and the back... can be pulled out... One side from the top, and the other side at the bottom. It's tricky.. You can use a thin knife blade, or just try holding it by the sides near the bottom with one hand... They bang it against your other palm, until the side pulls away a little.

No, it does not need a power adapter. It receives power from the usb connection.
