Yes, it comes with one wireless controller.
Also, it will work with any wired or wireless controllers approved for use on the Xbox 360 systems.

Is this still sealed from the factory, brand new?

Yes, I believe so. The sticker seal was still intact when i opened the box and i got to peel off the protective plastic from the unit. Note: some games require more than 4GB of space, so I had to buy a 16GB USB flash drive to be able to play GTA V.

What type of hard drive should I get for this?

Only Xbox hard drives work.  Or a Xbox formatted flash drive.  Size really depends on your use.  I would get the biggest you can afford.  I went with the 250G.

NO, this is xbox 360 4gb no kinect included. It is an older version than xbox one.

All i know is it is a slim that has the improved cooling. rear imputs  2 usb ports 1hmdi 1 A/V 1 kinect 1 lan and power. front 2 usb. right side harddrive is like a PS3 .  not the longer older generation requiring the data transferring cable

I Bought a 320gig Hard drive separate and have a Kinect already, yes they're all compatible.

Can I use the hard drive from my older Xbox 360?

Any Xbox 360 that uses the slim drive.  This drive can be removed internally and not from the side like the gray Xbox 360.

Can my son put his previous hard drive into this machine?  so he can continue game progress?

If its the older Xbox 360, the non-slim version, then no. You will have to buy a data transfer cable for 360. If its from the slim version then yes.
