No, this does not.  Windows and Mac OS X themselves have firewalls, however.  And you will need to buy an antivirus product separately.

No. It is a box that contains a card with a cd key and instructions to sign in to the microsoft site and download an installer

Yes. I will work on your laptop. You can keep Open Office as well.

Yes, you have to buy one for each computer. What they give you is a disk that goes on line with a code for one download per motherboard IP address

Does this version require an internet connection to work?

Accepted Answer

It would require a connection for activation and updates, but not beyond that.  Once activated after installation it would only be required if you wanted access to security and other updates.

Is this version of Office "permanently locked" to a machine similar to how OEM versions of Windows OSs are? In other words, if the PC goes kaput, does Office die with it?
