do the keys light up?

No. The only light that turns on is the indicator light, which is green, when it is turned on.

Question 2

when I first connected the keyboard to my Samsung S5 it worked well but now it is no longer discoverable.  What do I need to do to have my Galaxy device discover the keyboard via bluetooth?

Press the battery tray release button on the left side of the keyboard stand, insert two AAA alkaline batteries, and slide the tray shut.
2 To turn on the device, press Fn+Esc for 1 second. (To turn off the device,
replace the cover, or press and hold Fn+ for 3 to 4 seconds.)
3 Connect the device to your computer:
a. Press and hold the Connect button on the underside of the device opposite end from where batteries goes in for 3 to 5 seconds. A small light on the front of the device blinks
green and red alternately, to show that the device is discoverable to other Bluetooth devices within 6 minutes.

Question 3

is there a wedge permanently attached to the back of the keyboard?  Or does the keyboard lay flat?

There is a permanent very small wedge to tilt the keyboard forward a little.

Question 4

Hi. What is the difference between model u6r-00001 and u6r-00002 of the microsoft wedge keyboard. U6r-00002 says English Canada? I'm not sure what that means.

It looks like the 00002 is just an updated revision on the keyboard. I can't see any differences with the actual layout of the keyboard so there were probably some minor changes on the circuitry.
