Don't know for sure as I am still running win7. I suspect the camera would be compatible with Win8.1 as long as you download and install the latest camera drivers from Microsoft.

Question 2

What is the focal length (in terms of equivalent 35 mm)? My use would be to attach to a laptop and capture in real-time on DVD or video CD specific student activities in the classroom such as presentations, and role-playing. The camera needs to be far enough out of the way that it does not provide a distraction or influence behavior. The back of the room would be preferable but that would require about an 85mm equivalent. Thoughts?

Accepted Answer

Depending on how much of the student you want in the picture.  If head and shoulders then back of the room is probably too far.

Some of the software available I believe has a digital zoom which would help.
