Does this have on & off switch or do you have to take out battery everytime?

Well this controller has no on/off switch but when you press the Xbox logo button it turns it on for a couple of minutes so you can pair it up with your console. From there you press and hold the Xbox logo and then a choice should pop up on your console to either turn off console or just controller

Does this have a rechargeable battery pack or does it require AA's?

This controller requires and ships with a pair of AA batteries. The rechargeable battery pack can be purchased separately.

Can you use the Microsoft Xbox One Chatpad with it? Is the proper connector there?

Accepted Answer

The xbox one chat pad is compatible with the wireless xbox windows controller. The connection for the chat pad and controller is identical and the the chat pad connects to the controller easliy.

What is "Experience the enhanced comfort and feel of the new Xbox Wireless Controller" supposed to mean? Is the shape or size of this controller different in some way?

The experience change is the feel of the controller, of course the shape and size is identical to the regular Xbox 1 controller, but the texture and the feel in the hand is different. Where you would have a plastic, smooth texture on the regular Xbox controller, you have a little rougher texture texture on the back of the controller. Everything else, the hand, feel, and experience is nearly identical. Its for those situations where you would have sweaty hands and you need that slight extra grip to play your intense games. In my opinion you shouldn't by the controller just for the texture, it should be for the new color, extra compatibility, and slight change of texture.

This only mentions Windows 10.  Will it work for Windows 8?

It will work with windows 8 but only through a wired connection. Do a search for "How to connect an Xbox One Wireless Controller to a Windows PC" and a Windows support page should be on the list and explain everything more.

Question 6

What hardware do I need to connect this to my PC?

Accepted Answer

So what you could do is either pair the device up with your computer via Bluetooth, that what the controller is primarily made for, or you could use an old USB cord from your phone and connect that to the controller and then connect the opposite side to the PC via USB side.

Question 7

I have the original xbox one controller and i absolutely hate the top R1 and L1 bumpers. They require too much force to push down and they make an awfully loud click sound that wakes up my girlfriend. Not to mention they are kind of slippery. However the triggers are fine and i like them a lot.

Has the top bumper been improved on this model?

The buttons do feel a lot nicer on this controller than the standard one. The bumpers are slightly quieter and not too slippery. I do think this model is better than the standard Xbox One controller.
