I purchased a Toshiba SatelliteC-55-A with Windows 8 operating system only. Does Windows 8 Pro Pack have Word, Excel programs? Will there be any compatibility problems by installing Win Pro Pack 8 and the existing Win 8 operating system?

I apologize for not answering sooner as I am sure you are anxious to get answer quickly but I only read your e-mail request today because I was not at work.

The Pro Pack does not have Office programs, except perhaps as a free trial offer.  I attempted to install the Pro Pack on a netbook with Windows 8 OS.  I do not remember the brand, and the person who uses it is out of town.

You notice I say attempted, because the installation failed and I had to restore the Windows 8 system from an image I created before I started.  I was rushed because the user had to catch a plane in a few hours.  There was an issue with either the sound or video driver that caused the system to not start properly.  It is a known issue, but I was unaware until after I experienced the problem.  Microsoft has detailed instructions to correct the issue, but because the user had to leave to catch his plane I did not have the time to fix it.

I checked my records and found the computer was an Acer.  Unfortunately, my browser history does not go back far enough to give you the Microsoft link.

You should be able to update the system but I would check the Toshiba forums, Microsoft TechNet, of call Toshiba and ask if there are any issues.  Before installing, update all the drivers on your computer.  Also, make sure you create a rescue disk or create an image of the entire disk before you start so that you can recover to the old system in case the installation fails.
