Microsoft Windows XP Home SP3 for System Builders - OEM

Pros: Its XP... Its not Vista...

Cons: Its too expensive for a single install.

Overall Review: Bob does not know what he is talking about, first of all this OS (Disk) does work if you are building a single pc. I have purchased 2 of these and have not had one problem. The only issue here is that If you try to install on 2 diffrent pc's with the same key you wont be able to use both pc's at the same time. EVERYONE knows this, so next time get your facts strait and write something that makes sense. Funny part was the OPK.....LoL.....

Pros: If you need to install or reinstall Windows XP, this gives you the ability to install ONLY windows without any of the preinstalled cr*p that comes with most mass produced machines. Also, for those of you with older machines that have installed large capacity drives, XP with SP3 allows Windows XP to format and recognize hard drives larger than 137 GB.

Cons: Anyone who uses Windows knows the cons.

Pros: Hey it's XP and it's service pack 3 - It works as it should.

Cons: $90 for an almost 10 year old operating system is a bit much. That fact that I already own a copy, but can’t install it on another system is a mockery.

Pros: Good old WIndows XP Home 32 Bit ! It's fast, stable, and smooth. I tried the 64 Bit version of XP, and it was a bummer! I built a brand new system, all 64 Bit ready etc. etc. I had nothing but trouble, crashes, studders, shudders, hangs, immpossible to find all the right drivers I needed, it didn't like my brand new Gigabyte board at all. Switched back to XP Home 32 Bit, and just like magic, everything is faster, stable, and smooth! Microsoft should not sell a 64 Bit O.S. without correct, reliable drivers to go with it. Some people say it's great, that is not my experience.

Overall Review: I am sticking with XP 32 Bit until someone comes out with an O.S. that will use all of the RAM, and allow everything to run properly!

Pros: I'm very glad that Windows XP is still alive and kicking. I'm still using it, and don't want to upgrade until Windows 7 is out (fingers crossed), and vista finally kicks the bucket. All of my customers still request XP, so I'm glad there are OEM copies I can still grab for them.

Cons: Sure XP is getting up there in age, and Vista has more bells and whistles, but you can download secondary programs to emulate whatever shiny things vista has for XP. So why bother? Still hardly any cons for XP

Overall Review: XP is going out sooner or later, it's unavoidable. Grab your copies while you still can!

Pros: What can I say? It's XP, the best OS so far.

Cons: Didn't come with a COA sticker (cd-key).

Overall Review: It's entirely Microsoft's fault. I don't know what happened, but the COA just plain wasn't there. I just called Microsoft at 800-642-7676 and they generated a new one for me so no biggie. Mine might just be a fluke or they may have a batch like that, so just FYI.

Pros: Stable, and not a RAM hog like Windows Vista or 7. Don't have to worry about compatibility with older programs and games, hence why I went with it for my older titles like BF2 which were built for XP in the first place. It's nice having excess memory even with only 2 GB of RAM installed. The boot up is very fast thanks to new hardware.

Cons: Alot of prebuilts, especially notebooks won't have proper drivers for XP, so those people are out of luck, while system builders won't have this issue since component manufacturers know that people will continue to need and want XP. Too bad there was never a stable 64 bit version of XP. Vista and 7 seem to run a bit quicker when running large numbers of programs at once, probably because non-business/server XP wasn't natively designed to use multi-cores and multi-thread until it was updated with the Service Packs later on. This is a minor issue, because you barely even notice the difference. Yes it's still easily affected by viruses and malware, though it's not hard to protect a PC using 3rd party software or just being smart enough to avoid strange e-mail attachments, dirty websites and all that other shady stuff.

Overall Review: Runs older software and games like a charm just as I remember from so long ago :) There is a reason why PC developers still love XP and DX9.0c. Pros: The CD works fine. You would think these reviews would be pretty polarized. Either the cd works or it doesn't. There is no middle ground. I can't believe Newegg is still able to get its hands on these!

Overall Review: XP is great and all but you guys know we are gonna need to switch over to a newer version of windows eventually right? Windows 7 is coming out in October so I cannot recommend buying this so close to the release date. BTW if you buy Home Premium or Ultimate now from Newegg, you get a free upgrade to windows 7 and not only do you get to use vista until 7 comes out but you actually end up saving around $10-20 on Windows 7. It costs more to buy it straight from Microsoft or your local retailer.
