Hi Steve,
I bought this product to upgrade the keyboard and mouse that came with an older computer that was running Windows XP.  I have upgraded the computer to Windows 7, again to Windows 8 and finally to Windows 10.  The keyboard and mouse has made the transition through all the upgrades without any problems that I've noticed.  If you purchase this keyboard and mouse combo I hope you'll have the same good luck that I have.

it works great on win 7 x64

but notice it will not work on xp 64 bit

No. Only on your computer monitor monitor if you installed the driver/software. Consider getting the Logitech MK7xx series if you want an indicator on the actual keyboard.

I have not tested this on this particular keyboard and mouse but I have several other combos at one location and there have not been any interference.

Use windows to program kb and mouse for the receiver. Next plug receiver into the other type machine.  It should recognize everything with out anything else.  Mine runs on a LINUX box after this little trick.

it is not bluetooth it is blue led light inside instead of regular red.. the usb is (RF) radio frequency ... and i have had this a few years and works great

I picked this up yesterday for my boss and he is having a problem with the keyboard going into "sleep" mode after only a minute or two of not being used. then has to press several keys in order to "wake" it up. is this a defect?

My keyboard has never gone into sleep mode, didn't know it haas that feature. It may be defective.
