Question 2

Title says this is an addon card for a laptop.  I find this extremely unlikely as it is a PCIE card.  Are we sure this is a laptop addon?

I have it installed on my Desktop and it has worked perfectly for many years.
I also own a Laptop and cannot see how this will fit inside or attached to a Laptop.

Does this works with motherboard Biostar tb85 ? i need to add 3 more gpus to my mining rig

Not sure about Biostar, but I have a Gigabyte motherboard and this card caused blue-screens, system freezes and random resets.  I couldnt figure it out, but finally removed the card and my computer runs fine now.

Also, the USB socket orientation BARELY fits the width of the slot opening, making it very difficult to plug and unplug USB devices.  They were able to fit more sockets on the card this way, but I'd rather have less sockets if it meant i wouldnt have to sacrifice usability.

Question 4

Is the 19 pin connector the same one used in my front panel USB? If so, can I plug my front panel cable directly into the card to get my front USBs working?

I presume you are talking about the connection between the interior cable from your front panel to the motherboard.  You will not find a compatible connection for that cable on this expansion card. The 19-pin connection listed in the description is a carryover from an earlier model that does not exist on this card. The only connectors are what you see; 7 USB, 1 SATA power (must utilize), and 1 mini PCI-E. [The manufacturer resides in China which is why the description and documentation are lacking.] Unless there is physical damage (very rare) to your cable or mother board, your problem causing the front panel USB to stop working is most likely a software problem (driver or corrupt OS). If it is a software problem then the problem may carry over onto the expansion card, especially if it uses the same drivers, Orico has its own drivers available which may still work for this card while not helping with the front panel connectors. Sorry.

Question 5

Will this card work without the SATA power?  My plan is to connect only external hard drives that have their own external power supplies.  I have a Dell machine, so it doesn't have any extra SATA power cables that are long enough to reach the card; Dells may look good (and tidy) inside, but that comes at a cost of course. I know I can buy a SATA power extension cable, but I would rather not.

No USB 3.0 card that I have seen will work without connecting it to the power supply. This one is no different. You will need to connect power from the power supply to the SATA connection seen on the card (next to the 3 silver capacitors). If your power supply does not have enough connectors, you can buy a Y-cable (SATA splitter). You can also buy a SATA extension cable in various lengths depending on your need. Judging from the picture, the card now comes with a 4-pin Molex to SATA adapter so that you can use a 4-pin connector from your power supply if available, but that will likely need to be extended as well.

Question 6

Windows 10 crashes with IRQ error when installing driver software. Is there a base driver package that doesn't include an unknown installer?

I never did get this USB card to work.  My brother installed it and figured that it should simply be detected by Windows 10 and I threw the disk out.  I recently downloaded the "DRIVER" from the ORICO site and after I installed it the board STILL did not function and the ZIP or ZAP (I can't remember which since my  is currently being worked on by my friend's husband who owns a computer shop.  He said that he's never seen one of those boards work so he's removing it and installing one that he KNOWS will work, and is also installing a front panel is USB 3 ports that connects to the board that he is installing.  Yes, as soon as I downloaded and installed the supposed driver for this board I immediately started having issues.  It's definitely put me off buying ORICO again . . . . . and I already have 2 or 3 external ORICO hubs - the reason that I bought this board.  It was a total waste of money and caused all sorts of issues.  I hope that anyone considering buying this card will think twice before making the purchase.  Mine will be going in the garbage.  A total waste of money and effort.  I hope someone from ORICO reads this and will know how unsatisfied we are with their product.

Question 7

My on board USB controller is starting to die, can I install this card then disable USB controller on motherboard? It it this easy?

As long as you have an open PCI slot and and necessary power to plug in the USB card it will work.  You should not have to disable the existing USB ports I don't think.  Just start using the new ones.

Is this compatible with Oculus Rift? There are some USB cards that don't work with it.

This card doesn't work at all. I installed it it showed new USB ports I plugged in a USB hard drive I started to use the hard drive and it ruined the USB on the drive

Is this compatible with my HP Desktop PC ENVY 750-124 computer and what other accessories will I need to hook it up, such as cable SATA or otherwise?

According to the specifications of your "Odense" motherboard, you have both a full-size and a mini PCI-E. The mini PCI-E port will need to be unused for this card to be inserted. You will also need an available SATA power connector from your power supply. If you do not have an open connector there are Y-adapters (“power splitter”) available. The 300W power supply standard for your PC will be more than sufficient to handle the draw of a few devices plugged in to this card provided you have not added a video card into the full size PCI-E slot. Depending on your OS you may need to download the driver from the company website.

Is this accessory compatible with with a z370 chipset motherboard?   Windows, 10.

yes it should be as long you have PCI-E X16 slot on the mobo. And you have PCI-E lanes as well. Will need either a sata to molx conncter or just the standard SATA pwr plug
