Pros: mSATA drive gives SSD speed to go with 500GB regular hard drive
Lightweight and easy to carry.
Good battery life.
Cons: n/a
Overall Review: mSATA is an SSD on a little plug-in card that's smaller than a laptop hard drive. It fits in a special slot inside the laptop. The generous 32GB capacity allows almost everything you do on the laptop to go super-fast compared to just a normal laptop. Plus, you get the regular 500GB hard drive for plenty of storage and a snappy Core i5 processor that can ramp up its speed instantly to work with the super-fast mSATA. With 6GB of memory this is clearly a winning combination !
Pros: Design, weight, battery life, DVD drive, Good amount of ram.
Cons: Keyboard looks weird.
Overall Review: So, the device has two hard drives with three partitions. The SSD drive is actually set up as cache drive to enhance performance. It appears as though you can change this and run it as a separate drive. I have not done this yet and I may not. But, overall it appears to be a decent laptop. I will say that windows 8 really does need a touch screen to make things faster. But, it is not bad. This laptop will be going with my daughter to college, I wanted a thin and light machine with a DVD tray. This one appears to hit that all marks for a decent price. But, we will have to see how it pans out.
Pros: There has been some discussion about the hard drive. You cannot see two hard drives in the OS but the bios shows 1 500gb sata and 1 32gb msata. Hope this helps. This obviously isn't a top of the line machine but you do get a decent machine compared to the price. In my opinion this is right inbetween a true ultrabook and a normal laptop. It's not quite ultraportable but does have an optical drive (which alot of us still use) and is fairly thin. The design is OK. The key's feel a little cheap but appropriate for the price/specs.
Misconceptions about hybrid drives5/26/2013 6:05:55 AM
Pros: Looks like Ali was mistaken in his/her review. The hard drive is actually a hybrid drive that has an SSD acting as a cache to the hard drive. This means the SSD assists in making the hard drive faster, but is not visible in Windows. It is NOT a standalone SSD.
Cons: -There really isn't mini-DisplayPort, so beware of incorrect specs.
Overall Review: I do not own this product, but it seems like potential buyers will be put off by the first and only negative review, by someone who does not seem to be familiar with certain components.
Cons: In addition to what I mentioned previously, there is a defect in the screen on the bottom right. The LCD is "fluid" and "vibrates" especially when typing on the keyboard. Customer service said that I can only get a replacement but because of the incorrect specs and defection, they allowed me to return it for a refund.
