Will this unit work with windows 8?

I am using it with Windows 8.1 on a Samsung 11" Tablet and it works great.  Just need to figure out how to program it to drop the Lead and Check digits in a barcode.

The overview shows a cradle that is not in the product pictures.  Is the cradle included?

We have purchased nearly 20 of these and none have had a cradle. To be honest I don't see the value in a cradle, but maybe it's just that our use case is not the right fit for one.

Question 3

I just found out the barcodes are being switched to QR codes.  Can this scanner scan QR as well?

Accepted Answer

No. QR codes are 2D (2-dimensional) barcodes. This is a 1D scanner.

Question 4

The picture shows a "symbol" branded scanner, however the description says it is a "zebra" branded scanner. Which product would I be getting? I realize it is Motorola, but I am looking for the "symbol" one (as shown in the picture) and not the "zebra" one as stated in the decription.

Few years ago Motorola acquired Symbol, then after Zebra acquired the scanners division from Motorola hence right now is kinda Zebra Motorola Symbol

How do I program the scanner to drop the lead and check digits?

This uses all of the standard Motorola/Symbol symbologies.  They have a 400 page guide of all the actions that can be done.  The most comprehensive guide DS6707-HD Product Reference Guide.pdf.

How can we read the batch data, once we are back near the computer ? Can this works on cold temperature ?

I don't recall the exact process, but I know you were able to use software to open the stored data in a text document.

I don't know if it will works on cold temperatures because we returned the device once we found we weren't able to create syntax commands that would work with our inventory software.

Which barcodes does this scanner read?

Accepted Answer

The specifications state "1D symbologies" which translates to all 1D barcodes.

We have scanned various 1D barcode types successfully including Code 39, Code 128, and UPC types.

What is the size of this scanner?  Is the lanyard an additional accessory?  Is it comfortable to wear this scanner?

Accepted Answer

It is about 3.25" long by 1.75" wide by 0.75" thick.  It did not come with a lanyard or string but does have a loop to attach something to it.  It is fairly lightweight so attaching a lanyard and wearing it around your neck for several hours would not seem to cause any problems.
