Is this mobo able to use SLI?

Yes .... This motherboard is able to run 2 graphics card in mode SLI, and if you play games,  this card is able to connect with the others players in real time (via internet).....  basically you can throw  everything you want to this Motherboard  and is going to work without a problem. is super stable...

in my opinion, before you buy the video cards, do a research which brand and model is compatible with the motherboard and which microprocessor is required to work . usually ATI and INTEL makes test and post the result. )

Yeah but it doesn't have any of the added protections of a z87 board.  Fewer power phases and such.  Should be fine if you don't push it too far.

Certainly. I'm using win7 x64 on it. Update the bios as soon as possible. Fixes several bugs and cpu compatibility.

It will post and work fine, you will not be able to overclock the CPU
however, which will be a waste of a 'K' chip.....

Any SATA hard drive should work. I would think a 1000GB to be a SATA drive. Windows XP to Windows 10 should not have a problem with this board.

It works with Windows 7 as long as you install the network drivers that come in the box on a CD.

What you need to do is go to the MSI Support page for this product. I tried to send the link to MSI's pagefor this MoBo but NewEgg won't let you do this.

Here you will see tabs for CPU, Memory & VGA support. Here MSI lists the items that are compatible for this exact Motherboard.

when i put this in pc part picker i get this notice. Some Intel B85 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs. Will this be a problem?

Most likely will be a problem.

you can check the CPU support list first from MFR website to get the required bios version for your CPU.

However, there is no way to know the bios version in advance before you buy.
So you can't be sure if your CPU will be supported immediately.
If not(bios version too old), you will need an older CPU to update the bios first, then your newer CPU will be supported.

This is the common problem for all motherboards, all brands. 
Not just this model/brand.

This motherboard's chipset is somewhat old (85, not 97),
so you need to update the bios first to support latest/new CPUs.
