i noticed how the cpu socket is closed. can i insert a heatsink and fan on this motherboard?

Yes you can though the board is small so its not made for a regular sized desktop its made for compacted machines so if your heat sink is too big/ heavy the board might break

Hi. I'm looking to overclock the Pentium G3258 possessor to play skyrim on a budget build. can this MOBO overclock at least slightly? i know the components are limited but I'm betting on this one due to the upgraded chip set and PCIe 16 3.0 slot that some others don't have.

i think i understand why it funneled this question to me. i don't own this mobo, first off. and i don't mess with intel, because it's twice the price for not that superior of a product. i'll put my lot in with amd and get a little more punch at the price point. anyways, so, get a graphics card  thas worth something. if you get a good graphics card, you don't need to oc most of the time. oc is for like, playing crysis at 120 fps so you can jerk yourself off. there isn't a reason. get a nicer ati or gforce and it will more than suffice. you can oc a 400 dollar pc and fry it in a few weeks/months and be bummed, or spend a little more and have stability for a year or two, plus some future proofing with no need to oc. the choice is yours.

My case has USB 3.0 on the front. I heard this motherboard does not have usb 3.0 headers. will the front usb connectors on the case still work if plugged into a usb 2.0 port?

I would say no. The headers are different for usb 2 and 3.

Hello. This motherboard was the one I chose from cyberpower, and I plan on upgrading the computer later on. Here are my specs:

I7 4770
Gtx 660
600 watt standard 80+ psu
This Motherboard
CFI Borealight Orange fulltower case, with extra fans and fan controller
500gb hard drive.
8gb ram.

Anyways, I will be upgrading the hard drive and psu first, but after that I plan on upgrading the gpu. I have my eyes set on something like a GTX 970. I am concerned that this motherboard may not be able to support the weight of the card, as it is a big upgrade and this mobo seems a bit small compared to it. The case can fit it no doubt, but I don't want the thing snapping on me later on. And besides that, would it even be compatible, or would there be some sort of bottlenecking going on? I just don't think this motherboard could support a beast like that.

Your mother board has screws on both sides of the slot for the GPU as long as you have secured the board in these locations with the proper stand-offs you should have no issues.

I'm not actually sure. Google "b85 chipset overclock" to learn more about the differences and limitations of the chipset.

I don't know. I want to say yes if your CPU's multiplier is unlocked, but I doubt you can do any voltage bumps with a B85 chipset. Additionally, be careful about running powerful GPUs with a low end CPU. You'll likely bottleneck the GPU so you won't be able to use it's full power.

I used this board in a client's build so I don't remember but the MSI product page says 3.0.

According to the pictures, this board has been designed to support a dual-width card in the x16 slot and still allow access to the x1 slot.
