how loud is the fan on this card? I'd like something close to silent for media room use.

it's very quiet unless it's under full load. You can tell the difference in noise between this and a 660 under load. The great thing about this card is that the fan doesn't spin most of the time, and it can get pretty warm before it turns on. With MSI Afterburner downloaded you can set a fan curve that is quiet and cool.

How do i check if my computer has a 6 pin power connector?

Look at the wires coming from your power supply. Most power supplies have a 6 pin connector. It might even be labeled on your power supply. It is on my EVGA 500w 80+ bronze.

I see that this card is cooled by a single fan. Will the card throttle down from excessive heat?

I have had this card for a few weeks now and have put it under some pretty decent load (playing games on ultra settings and streaming them). I haven't seen the temp on this card go above 60C yet. Even after this weekend where i played a solid 6-8 hours straight. The only thing to note is that i have the Thermaltake Chaser case with an extra turbo fan installed up top and one installed on the side. So it's 4 turbo fans in one case. But still...if you're running the right set up, I can't see you having any issues with this card!

Can I get away with a 120 psu?

I haven't received my card yet....but everything that i've read on this is that under load it requires about 150 watts....factor in everything else it recommends 400W PSU. I have a 630 in mine just to be comfortable
