could the 16GB memory be expanded to 32? same for ssd?

Yes, I upgraded to 32 gigs of ram, I also added a second 256 gig ssd (1 x SAMSUNG 950 PRO M.2 256GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V5P256BW) to be exact.  There is also room for two more M.2 ssd  drives but I do know the NVMe version I purchased did not fit in those slots.  the NVMe versions are much faster and you could remove the existing one and replace it with (SAMSUNG 950 PRO M.2 512GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V5P512BW) or add a second one  and run them as Raid 0 as i did, very good for speed but if one fails you loose everything.  Upgrading the ram is straight forward but upgrading the SSD is a bit of a challange because there are no instructions and MSI will not warranty any damage to the computer from faulty installation of additional hardware.  They have a do not tamper sticker on the bottom of the unit that means just that, you are allowed to make upgrades but if you break it its your problem not theirs.
