Hi,

I know this is the L (Long Version) SLI bridge, but would this work with my GA-Z97X Gaming 5 motherboard? I am going to SLI two GTX 970s on a x16 and x8 slots on my motherboard.

On that motherboard it looks like you will run your SLI configuration in the 1st and 2nd PCIe 3.0 x 16 slots. If you check the manual on Gigabyte's site (I just read it, Page 7 and 19), it identifies those slots as PCIEX16 and PCIEX8 and recommends them as the ones you should connect your two GPU in SLI to. In that configuration, this SLI bridge will work perfectly. As comparison. I am using the MSI Z97-Gaming 7 motherboard which has the same separation for the 3.0 x 16 slots and love this bridge. It lights up white and can do various effects from the Geforce Experience LED Visualizer tab.

TL;DR -- Yes. Give Newegg your $30.

Does this SLI bridge have any advantages over a standard SLI bridge besides looks?

I do not believe so. My performance did not change at all once I added this bridge. My sole reason for purchasing it was for "appearance" alone. If you have MSI cards or a red/black them, this bridge looks great! If you are looking for performance and you have some of the new NVIDIA 10x0 series cards, they now sell a high bandwidth SLI bridge that covers both fingers on each card. If you are unfamiliar with HB, just do a quick search on Google and you will find all you need to know. I hope this helps.

The SLI bridge has nothing to do with the motherboard. It links two Nvidia graphics cards together. You will simply need to check the spacing, between the SLI fingers on your cards, to know what length bridge to buy.

Depends on the spacing of the  pci slots on the mobo. You can easily look at the mobo, look in the user manual for the mobo, download it online... Etc. As long as there is one slot (not including the slots the graphics takes up) between the cards, you're good to go. There's pictures on MSI's website, tons of references everywhere. Takes 1 min to find out.

I have an Asrock z97 extreme9 motherboard and i have two evga GTX Titan Z superclocked video cards, will this SLI bridge work with my setup?

From what I've read, the bridge is designed with Nidia GPUs built on MSI's card form. However, I can tell you that the slots for the plugs are exactly 2.375 in apart from center to center, and the body of the bridge is 1.375 in wide. Hope the measurements help, should help figure out if it will fit.

Does this only work with msi graphics cards? and would it work with slot 2 and 5?

Working with those specific slots should work as it is intended to fit from the length of slot 1 to slot 4 normally, so as long as the cards are spaced that same length it should be fine. As for the card compatability, I have tested and it works with non-msi cards as well, it just is designed to fit thematically with the msi cards.

I plan to buy two of this for my two MSI 1070 cards. Using an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO. Will this be the bridges I need to make my two cards work in that particular board?

I use this with an MSI z97 gaming 7 and it works perfectly.  Looking at your board compared to mine, they both have the same setup (2 slots in between the PCI-E slots).  that being said it should work for you no problems on the 1st & 4th PCI-E slot.

I'm going to say more than likely NOT.  I use mine on a MSI Z97 Gaming 7 and there are 2 PCI slots between my cards. From the looks of it, the Crosshair V Formula Z has 3 slots between the cards.  im thinking it would be too short; however, i think MSI has various sizes... have you looked into them?

You guys are Trolling,. no matter what mother board you have, if you know enough to know which slots you put your 2 separate video cards into, then you can count the empty slots between the video cards that you can see, and if you have any number , more than 1 (single, all by itself, all alone) slot, then 1+ = not work..... so this SLI Bridge Connector only works if you have 2 video cards with ONLY 1 slot visible between your 2 video cards AND... your motherboard maker has followed standard spacing of the pci slots.... i hate typing....
