Question 1

Will this work on MSI X370 XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM board using two MSI GTX 1080 FE TI cards or do I need the L SLI version instead?
I can't believe that this information isn't freely available with the product description.

This was an issue that really was hard for me to resolve. A MSI Z170A gaming m7 mobo. 2 MSI GTX 980TI 6G Video cards. SLI config for the mobo uses pci express slots 1 and 3. Created a 4 inch gap between the videocards. None of the products I ordered worked including the one referenced here. Ended up using a 120mm flex cable. The large gap between slots 1 and 3 is the issue.

Won't this work with older cards that have the proper spacing, like 680's?

It works perfectly with my old pair of PNY GTX470's and then as intended with my new set of reference GTX 1070's.  No issues.  Note that the bridge did make my 1080 and 4k renderings snappier.  I saw little difference with lower resolution except on hardware highly intensive programs like Arkham knight.  I have not tested differences in video production or 3d scuplting, such as Maya or blender.

Assuming your cards have TWO gold finger tabs, this should work without question.

What is the distance between the pins set on this (i.e. is this a 1 slot between the 2 cards or is there no slot between the cards)?

There's one slot between the cards; in terms of pci slots, it can be represented as such:

Where the o's represent the occupied pci slots and the x's represent vacant slots.

Would this work on a MSI GeForce GTX 1080? I have a MSI Z270 SLI Plus MB and it only allows one slot between graphic cards

hello i have 2 questions first will this work on 980 ti's?  Secondly is this the  actual 4 slot one? Because when i look it up on msi website it says it is but on here it says it is only 60mm.

So if you count the first slot as the top slot of your video card and count down, then yes it is.. The M will leave only one space between the cards ;).

I am using a Asus Maximus IX Hero mobo, would this bridge work with two msi 1060 cards?

You need to see if it fits the distance between the two pci-e slots that you will be using on Asus mbo. Older MBO's use to be slot 1 and slot 4 but now  I am not sure. Start with the slot right after the slot for the first card then count all the way to the slot which you will be using for the second graphics card,and that will tell you the slot dimension for the bridge. The second thing you need to know are your graphic cards SLi capable as not all Ge-force cards are and the 1060's may not be but the 1070's are. If you have 1 1060 then I can understand the reason for SLI plus you should have at least a 1440P monitor. Other wise buy a OC 1070 Nvidia card as some games will not scale and you are left in the same boat. Plus a G-Sycn monitor from Acer or Asus will allow you to play without any judder or lag. Get one with high refresh rates. At least one or both. You will not regret it. I am using a 60hz 4k Asus ROG PG27AQ with Gsync  custom liquid cooled 1080FE's in SLi and in some games I get judders because the FPS is too high and I get judders so I put it in Vsync and it goes away. All of it. The best if you cannot afford it is build a Ryzen 1400x with a MSI Pro Carbon with the AMD Ryzen friendly GSkill 3200 memory and Flash the BIOS and run two MSI AMD 580's crossfire with no bridges needed and you will run over 60FPS even in Ghost Recon Wildlands which is the toughest game there is for high frame rates. I am building such a animal except a 1700X Ryzen CPU in a Corsair 570 case to sell to some lucky person. Good luck on whatever you do and do not be afraid to email me as I been doing this since the first 8086 Intel CPU.

If this is your mobo, you have PCI-E_1 is a x4, PCI-E_2 is a x16 (1st card), then PCI-E_3;_4 (2 pice slots), then PCI-E_5 for 2nd card. 
Google "NVIDIA HB SLI Bridge fudzilla".. should find the diagram of which bridge to pick by pcie spacing.

An 'L' would pring you to the PCI-E_6 slot which is an x4.. wouldn't work.
