Question 1

This is a single-slot card, but it looks like the cooling fans will cover up the next slot.  Does this make the next slot unusable, or am I misjudging the size in the pictures?

I purchased this video card for my current pc build so I can answer your question.

While the card itself only fits into one PCI slot, the fans do indeed cover up the next slot. So to answer your question, yes it will render the other slot unusable.

I am very happy with the purchase regardless though, it's a well built card, easy to set up and good for my dual monitor display.

I would say yes, I'm currently running a mini itx setup with a 4590s CPU on a 250w mini itx power supply with no issues except more second fan bearing is already bad and makes ALOT of noise. Great performance however pulling over 200fps on max settings in LoL and Skyrim.

My mobo (Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3) has a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot. Is this card backwards compatible?

Yes, All PCIE is forwards and backwards compatible. PCIE 2.0 X16 is way more than enough bandwidth to run tis.

does this come with a low profile bracket so I can install it in a low profile DELL case? inspiron 660s?

Mine did.  Actually, it came with two: one for the DVI and HDMI connectors on the card itself, and one for the VGA connector attached via the ribbon cable.

My PSU has a total output of 250W. Will this still work?

It has worked fine for me. I have a 225 watt psu. 4570Cpu. 12 gigs ram. No problems at all and i was worried so i have hammered on it for an jour or so. Hope that helps.

I'm 90% sure you can. ATI 4670 consumes more power (70w) than the 750ti (60w). The only thing that you should be worried is that if your CPU can handle it. I'm using a Q9550 Core 2 Quad with a year 2008 motherboard that can only have a PSU of 240w MAX (I know! It's not recommended!) but it works! I can play most games to medium high settings.

Yes, it comes with a smaller bracket for the smaller form-factor PCs (mine is in a HP Z240 SFF Workstation).  I have been using my video card for the last year and half, and it has been a very reasonably-priced upgrade.
