this board uses 2 8-pin connectors for the cpu power. Is both 8 pin power connector needed or is one able to power the board?

I have not tried only plugging in one connector to see if it will work. I imagine that if you are running a low end setup(two sticks of ram, one video card and a Ryzen 5) you should be ok. If you want to be sure either use both connectors or call MSI. I have had really good luck calling them. I get through fast and they seem to know what they are talking about. Best of luck to you.

Is it compatible with Ryzen 2700x out of the box?

Yes. Only thing is if you are using memory that runs faster than 2133 MHZ, just be sure to open up the Bios and set your memory to one of the XMP profiles. It is super easy to do. Only one button to press and you are good.

Max for Ryzen 2700x(Zen+) is 3200 MHz on the memory over two channels. It is less than that if you run four channels. This is all just off the top of my head, the numbers could be slightly different.

Does this board have wi-fi compatibility built into it or do I need to install my own Wi-Fi PCI card?

If you're asking if there is WIFI already on the board instead of needing a separate PCIe card or USB, then no.  It doesn't have it.

Yes, all x470 and b450 boards will work with ryzen 7 2700 out of the box. It is only the x370 and below series you need to worry about. (though it has been a while and most probably work nowdays as the old stock has been replaced)

Does this board support NVMe M.2 SSD ?

Yes it does as I stated earlier but the lower one is PCIE 4x. The board also supports M.2 RAID so you can use two (2) M.2 cards on a RAID 1 (mirror) for your OS and then use the SATA III ports for additional SSD storage if needed.

Will this boot from M.2 SSD?

Yes, this will work fine with either NVMe or SATA m.2 drives.

A couple things to note. The top slot is NVMe or SATA, while the bottom slot is NVMe only. Additionally, installing an NVMe drive in the bottom slot will reduce your GPU bandwidth to a max of x8.

can i put a samsung 970 evo 1tb ssd in this mother board with no problem and will it work fine?

Yes it'll be fine.  Just make sure that you're not using the port that reduces your GPU output from x16 to x8.  Other than that, your SSD will function just fine since it's using an M.2 form.

Bought this Mobo for my Ryzen 5 2600 and it was plug and play. Works great, pretty sure all X470 mobos are for the second gen ryzen

with this motherboard and a reyzen 2600X processor would you suggest a liquid cooling system and if so which one and why?

This board has really good thermals and one of the best vrms you can buy especially at that price point. This motherboard also has some of the best ram overclocking features ive ever seen.  I'm using a cheap coolermaster 240 with mine and it runs cool and amazing.  There are a couple of high end noctua air coolers out there that are really good too, but I like the clean look of the aio, there are a few air coolers out there that are just as good if not better than an AIO but they are big loud and expensive.  Any coolermax, corsair or enermax 240 setup should be more than enough.

Can you use 2 NVME drives?

Yes you can however you will lose one or two of  your SATA plugs on the motherboard the manual will tell you which one you will lose...BTW this motherboard is awsome
