I am looking to build a system with a microATX motherboard and a similar size tower case (an old dell tower).  Has anyone used this card in a small case like that or similar build?

I just finished a mini-ITX case build with no problem using the  MSI GeForce RTX 3050 Ventus 2X 8G OC video card. Your larger micro ATX case should have no problem.

I built a Lian Li Q58W-4 mini-ITX using a ASUS B550-I mobo with a PCIe 4 riser. The video card fits with plenty of room to spare. My case length is about 13.5" and the video card only takes a little over 9"

no, honestly if your going to use buy it then you should put at least 600v psu. If your other parts aren't as powerful it also would probably bottleneck the 3050.

Two problems. #1 I can't fit power adapter 8-pins plug into the card. Anybody had that? #2 the card is heavy. It tends to come out of PCI slot. It needs a frame or support.

I had the same problem. but the power supply 8 pin fits perfect just make sure that the female cable is correctly aligned against the GC pins and that the cable is long enough, do not force it, or, you might damage the pins. The card is not more big or heavy than other cards but you are correct, it might not allow the screw holes to fit right on the pc tower screw holes. I had to leave mine out too.

Can the card be used without the 8 pin power connector?  I don't have the 8 pin power connector in the same physical location as the PC.  The 8 pin connector would be installed within a few days or a month.

technically yes but it will be pretty bad performance. You can do 1080p perfectly fine and can do 1440p but at that point it can start to dip below 60fps
