Question 1

This monitor, EA224WMi, is specified on the NEC web site as having a 14ms response time even though Newegg has it at 5ms. If anyone purchased this from Newegg can you please confirm that it is 5ms? I really want to buy it, but only if the response time is 5ms.

The response time is 6ms as stated on the NEC website and manual.  I'm not sure exactly where you are getting your information but they are definitely 6ms.  I purchased two of these monitors and I couldn't be happier.  This number is largely a gimmick however and TN panels that boast 2 or 5ms GTG response time aren't really 2 or 5 milliseconds.  These monitors are head and shoulders above the Samsung TN panels I replaced and I play every genre under the sun.

Question 2

Does anyone know if the "human sensor" can be turned off, or over-ridden?  I am building a monitor-wall, consisting of 4 monitors wide by 3 monitors tall, and there won’t necessarily be someone directly in front of the monitors at all times; but they still need to remain on, and active.

Yes, in fact both sensors can be turned off in the options menu.  I've used both the 22" and 24" versions of these monitors in medical settings for a while now and the sensors need to be disabled.  This is a great monitor and I don't think you can go wrong with these.

Question 3

Specs indicate the monitor has displayport inputs.  Is this displayport 1.2 and can the monitor be in the middle of a displayport chain of monitors?

The monitor has a single display port.  I'm not hip to DP tech, but I don't see how it can be in the middle of a chain with only one port... I can't find anything on the monitor itself or in the monitor menus that lists the DP version number...

I use only a single external display so this has never crossed my mind... I bought this monitor mostly for the ergonomics and very interesting human sensing capabilities.  It's awesome to walk away from the computer and have the monitor instantly fade to black... I live off the grid...

Question 4

My video card has 1x DVI, 1x HDMI, and 3x DisplayPort. If possible, what's the best way to connect 3 of these monitors to my card (1 of each? 3x displayport?).

You only need one cable.  All 3 cables will support the maximum resolution of the monitor, but only the HDMI and Displayport cables will carry sound if you want to use the built-in speakers.

Can this monitor be used with a MacBook Air?

Yes absolutely, there is no such thing as an Apple/Mac specific monitor. The only thing you're going to need is a Thunderbolt to HDMI or Thunderbolt to Display Port adapter. The Macbook Air does not have any normal video connectors and uses Thunderbolt to output the video.

Question 6

I would like to use this monitor in an IT environment with multiple computers attached. If I have the input set to a computer I am working on, and I restart the computer will the input stay or will it auto switch to the next active input?

I can only say for certain that on the NEC EA232WMi & EA234WMi (similar models), when the DVI connection transitions from active to inactive (as it does momentarily during a restart), the input will switch to the DB-15 if it is active.
