A small desk runs out of surface long before it runs out of space. The laptop takes the middle, the charger sits wherever it was last put down, and the notebook ends up on top of the keyboard when the mouse needs room. The gap under the desktop is still empty at that point, and it is the one place where storage costs nothing in working area, because nothing on it sits at the height your hands move through. This is a pair of steel trays that screw to the underside of the desktop. Each one measures 13 inches wide, 7.9 inches deep and 3 inches tall inside, and 15.5 by 8.9 by 3 on the outside once the mounting ears are counted, so the outside figure is the one to hold against the gap under your desk. The tray is steel rather than plastic, so a charger and a stack of paper do not make it bow, and the screws for the desktop come in the box. Measure the clear gap under the desk before ordering, and check that the front edge of the desktop is flat, because a raised lip will hold the tray off the board.
