Yes, it is. I currently use with Windows 10 on a home theater PC which requires excellent bandwidth to stream movies. It works very well in our home.

When we are camping and there is no WIFI in camp ground  if I bought this and plugged it into our laptop would we be able to bring in a WIFI signal if there is one close?  I have no idea how this adapter is to be used?

It is not smart, you need Netgear Genie with it to see if there is a connection to connect to. Its range seam to be 1,000 ft.. If there is more than one available you pick the best from the display. If you have win 7 it will reconnect but win 10 does not remmember the connection and you must re-do it.

Is this compatible with windows 10?

Yes I have it running fine with only one issue. For some reason when I reboot instead of auto re-connecting to my wifi I have to re-enter the passcode each time. Probably an issue specific to my system but might be an issue with the driver.

i need this to reconnect to the internet, and because I'm not connected, it cannot download the driver.  where can i get the driver?

You'll find the driver at netgear/support

However, you will have to use either a wired connection or a different computer connected to the internet to go to the Netgear site, download/save the driver to a thumb drive and then copy it to your computer.

I am not getting the best download speeds. Matter of fact it is slower then my current 802.11g wireless card in my laptop. The upload speed was great. I have Google Fiber and I am suppose to get download speeds of atleast 100mps when I am wireless. I am only getting 9 with this card. I called Netgear and they said there is no setting for it. I called Google Fiber and they troubleshooted for me and couldn't figure it out and gave me Netgears number. I am very frustrated at this point and feel like I am going to have to take this product back unless I can get someone who actually knows what they are talking about. Any suggestions?

I have this and have not used it since I encountered slower speeds.  My problem is that I am not using an AC grade router.  Currently I am using Netgear Centria wndr 4700 router.  I too was dismayed at the slower download speeds, but I can't give you any figures.  Not having the links I read handy, I did find that A6200ac wifi will operate at a lower limit  (can't give you the exact details) when a router  isn't running AC.  SO I switched back to NETGEAR N900 Dual Band Wi-Fi USB Adapter (WNDA4100) dual band and I am happier-will save the a6200ac for upgrade time comes with the router.  If you search through the netgear forum  you will find what I am referring too...its there, it just took awhile to find it.  Hope this helps.

I honestly do not know. I would say, however, that if your PS4 operates on the 2.4 ghz frequency this device might work... check the manufacturer's specifications  for wireless networking  connectivity and compare.

If I have a Netgear C6300 Cable Modem Router, what, if any, benefit would this adapter have for my devices? All of which are wireless.

The C6300 router is pushing out wireless AC signal, which is the fastest wifi technology to date.  If you are surfing the internet, you will probably not need or see a difference in wireless speed by upgrading to a wireless AC card.  You may experience or notice longer range of connectivity.  But most internet providers only push out let's say 80Mbps to be generous.  Which wireless N is sufficient for all home based applications where users only surf the net.

One reason a person would upgrade to all wireless AC devices is if you are planning on transferring a lot of data from computer to computer within your network.

I have my own media server in my house that streams HD movies to about 3 workstations.  I want to make sure they are streaming as fast as possible so that I have no stutter in the movies.  I also do a lot of data transfer and backup to and from this server so I like it to go as fast as possible.  My network at home can utilize the speeds which wireless AC pumps out, my internet connection probably will never be fast enough to need wireless AC.  I have a 64Mb Time Warner connection.

I hope this puts it into perspective.  Wireless AC is great but only for those who need to transfer larges amount of data within their home or office network, not for a boost in internet speed.
