Yes the modem has an ADSL2+ port (1 x ADSL2+ port) that will allow hook up to DSL/internet enabled phone line.  A telephone cable and an ADSL2 phone filter are included in the package.

Will this router work with a cable modem?

I have not used the cable modem (WAN) port that is on this router, (I have DSL), but I do believe that is what the port is for.

Question 3

I don't really have a need for the WAN port, but could it be used for another LAN device? Who decided 4 was the optimal number for LAN ports?

Terry, I don't use the WAN either.  Good question about the number of LAN ports, but I believe that is more or less standard.  That's the only number I've ever seen - but then I'm just a user and certainly no expert.

One thing about this unit is that starting about a month ago I have to pull the power and restart it every so often - much too often for my comfort.  I don't have the greatest internet service, so I don't know whether it's the service or the equipment.  Either way it's frustrating.
