8 months, wireless choked down to 10Mbps 5/20/2016 11:29:28 AM

Pros: It was cheap, it worked great in the beginning. to this day is getting a wired connection of 135Mbps.

Cons: It's wireless signal is down to just 10Mbps. I work from home using VPN, and I have to replace ASAP.

Overall Review: This is the 2nd one I bought, I bricked the first one by attempting to change the admin password while it was downloading the firmware upgrade.

Don't buy - is useless 7/16/2015 9:40:51 AM

Pros: None - see cons

Cons: Had bought this as a pre-emptive purchase to my old router, assuming it would probably die in the next few months. This router sat on my shelf for a couple months and when I went to use it, it wouldn't detect the IP address assigned by my ISP. Tried login into the router using the instructions provided and the process of login in would crash any browser I tried to use (chrome, firefox, IE). I can't log in to the router to manually assign it an IP and it won't accept the assigned IP from my ISP, this thing is nothing but a paperweight.

Very good router for the price 3/27/2015 12:55:40 PM

Pros: I bought this router to replace an old D-Link router. Setup was very very easy. I just plugged the power adapter in, hooked it up to my router and then to my laptop. And that's it. I was online and able to use wireless with my other devices right away. 5 eggs for easy setup.

I haven't experienced dropped connections like some other people have. I've been using this router for 10 days now and it runs very smoothly. No dropped connections and my Internet service has been consistently at 35-40 mb/down and 5 mb/up. That's near the max of what my Internet plan offers.

Range is decent. I mostly use it in my bedroom about 20 feet away from the router in my living room and through a wall and speed is just about the same as above. I didn't test the range further than that though, but for me it was good enough.

I watch a lot of shows on Roku through a wireless setup and the videos load fast and in HD.

I bought this on sale for only $2x plus tax. I got bit the next day. Newegg shipping is the best.

This router is excellent for average everyday use and if you can get it on sale for $20+, you should do it.

Cons: This router is unable to use DD-WRT firmware. I'm using the pre-installed firmware and it's good enough, but I think it would be even better with DD-WRT.

Very Disappointed 10/18/2014 9:03:01 PM

Pros: Small, aesthetically pleasing unit. Fairly easy to set up. Had some good features that are normally associated with more expensive routers. All in all, seemed to be a pretty good router for the price... until recently.

Cons: Died after first firmware update. Is now essentially a high-tech looking paper weight.

Overall Review: After owning this for about a year and a half, and having a few quirky issues (primarily with the Wi-Fi connection), I decided to do a firmware update. I am absolutely certain I made no mistakes in the procedure, but none the less, immediately after attempting to apply the new firmware, the router went off-line, and ultimately never came back up. I tried to do a hard reset (more than once) with no luck. Now all the router will do is cycle through a colorful little led light show on the front panel, but otherwise is good for nothing more than a paper weight. Until now, I actually had a pretty good opinion of Netgear, but this incident is going to give me serious reason to reconsider.

HORRIBLE router!! 7/19/2014 7:46:27 PM

Pros: Gig ports, removable antennas (even tho they are very low signal)

Cons: Router web gui is pathetic. You have to use different resolution to see the page correctly on any computer. Netgear genie is stupid, VERY STUPID. The wireless is not good at all, can't get past 54 megs, it is NOT a 300 meg wifi router. Would never buy this... at least I got it for $10 after a rebate.......

Overall Review: very bad router, horrible reviews, horrible web gui, horrible wireless speeds, horrible overall

Short range 7/12/2014 11:02:05 AM

Pros: Works well in small areas

Cons: Short range if using in a house

Overall Review: Works well if within range, but the range of this modem is noticeably shorter than my previous one. I have a 1400 square foot house and could not get my dvd player's wi-fi to work downstairs with the router in an upstairs bedroom. Replaced with Asus RT-N10P and dvd player's wi-fi worked instantly after set-up.
