It works well with Windows 7, I haven't tried it with 8, but it should work fine with it.  It acts just like my wifi router and adds another access point to attach to.  So once you set it up you just attach to it like it's another access point.

do ineed to connect a Ethernet cable from mater routrt to work or it pickups sigal and reeats it. also does it have ehernet port to connect a device to it?

The whole purpose of this device is to extend your wireless network range without adding any cables. When setting it up, the easy to follow instructions walk you through getting this device to log onto your existing wireless network. It then rebroadcasts that signal to extend the range without cables. It includes one ethernet port that can be used to connect a printer or computer. You cannot use that port to add a router.

My repeater only lasted a month and now does not work. How long have others lasted?

I had to RMA my first unit as it fried out the box, my second unit is approaching a year now and still works....although setup was a pain, I wrote a review on it

You should still be able to RMA it, although if you don't have Premier you'll be paying the shipping cost.

What if there are multiple wi-fi routers in the house? Does it connect with all routers or the closest one?

When you receive the router, you will have an installation guide, which will guide you through connecting your computer to this router and a setup menu once you connect to the router. You will chose the WiFi network you want the device to extend and you will be prompted to enter the password for said network. Then it will have a few minutes of automatic setup and you will decide the extended network name and password.

Essentially, you choose what network it will connect to.

I have a large house. Can I use more than one Extender in my house or will they fight each other?

I have three of them working concurrently, all sharing the same subnetwork. One is on the second floor (at back of house to extend from the cable gateway at the front) and two are downstairs on first floor (one in the front, the other near the back of the house). The first-floor front one is an ethernet-wired connection to our HDTV, and it hugely improved streaming video and such. You'll start out by "training" them to work with your existing network, then place them in their ultimate locations. Hope that helps.

Will this work with the newer NETGEAR AC1750 Dual Band WiFi Gigabit Router? All I need the extender for is the (n) 2.4GHz band.

Probably, but I'm not certain. We're using it with a Netgear N150 Wireless Router WNR1000, and in Netgear's specs it refers to the router as a "2.4 GHz wideband transmission system (transceiver)." I hope that's helpful.

How do I connect to my existing router?

Follow the instructions that come with the Extender. Essentially, you have to go to the URL where the Extender settings are, enable it to connect to your existing router, i.e. recognize the network and insert the network key, decide if you want to keep the same password to connect to the extender, and that is just about it. Usually it takes only about 10-15 mins to do all that.

I currently have the Netgear powerline adapters that I use to extend my network within my house.  I would like to add range for my wi-fi, so that cell phones can get better signal throughout the house.  Does this device connect via the powerline adapter, so that I have a better more reliable wi-fi signal - in other words, does this work together with Netgear's powerline network adapters?

Works well to extend my existing wifi network, probably doesn't need the powerline interface. It can patch a PC without a wireless card into the network via Ethernet.
