Question 1

I am looking to purchase a network extender to use while camping.  Campground WiFi can be really weak and slow.  By placing this outside my trailer, would it improve the WiFi signal I receive inside the trailer?

It would, but I would not recommend it as the device is not meant for outdoor use.  It can run somewhat hot since it is fanless and has very little holes, so in direct sunlight it may overheat. Also it is not waterproof, so if it gets wet you will encounter issues.  For best reception, both between the extender and the hot spot and between you and the extender, you want to place it as high up as possible, so one form factor may not be best, wall wart, but it does come with an attachment to plug it with a cord instead.

Question 2

I see a USB port on this.  Can I plug this in and plug my wired printer into the USB to make it a wireless printer?

Hi,
Yes, I have bought this device exactly for this purpose - it acts as a wireless bridge replicating signal from my main router and my printer is plugged into USB port on the WN3500 to print wirelessly from any WiFi connected computer in the apt (haven't tried printing from a phone or a tablet). You'll need to install the provided Netgear driver to see connected printers.
