Question 1

Will this take the place of a wireless board? And what is the range? This is for a Gateway computer a couple years old

If, by "wireless board", you mean a PCI-type Wi-Fi card, then yes - this has the same functionality - AND, it's a lot easier to install.  In fact, with Windows 7, it was plug and play -- did not need to install any of the Netgear drivers -- the device was recognized and updated upon plugging it in.  (Actually, I recommend NOT downloading the Netgear software for this device, as it adds yet another startup program to your PC, and it's doing something that Windows already does).    Performance-wise.... I have had this for about a year and a half. No complaints at all. The range is decent - I have a full signal about 25' from the router on the same floor.  To extend the range further, I  highly recommend getting a USB extension cord and mounting this device on a wall, say at least 6' up. That way it will get better reception vs. being in the back of a PC tower tucked in some corner.  For the price, this can't be beat.

will this work with any tv that has a usb port?

I can't answer about your TV, but it out performs the adapter I originally bought for my Panasonic DVD Player and I use it to watch movies from Vudu.

My primary purpose of the N-Adapters (3) were for use with my computers, which access the internet through my Century Link Prism system.

I have had no connection problems with any of my equipment using the WNDA3100's purchased from Newegg.

My wifi is 802.11ac, this adapter is 802.11n, so will it still work???

I REALLY CAN'T SAY IF THE PROBLEM IS 802.11AC VS. 802.11N AND WORK.  MY PROBLEM WHEN I BROUGHT THIS ADAPTER, IT JUST WOULDN'T WORK WITH WINDOWS 10.  MAKE SURE YOUR ADAPTER WORKS WITH YOUR OS.

I did not receive any software with this adapter.  Can the drivers be downloaded from Netgear ???

This is what I found on Google. I run Windows 7 x64 and use a Netgear driver.

"WNDA3100 - Version 1 of the adapter. Uses the Atheros AR9001 chipset and if you can't find 64-bit drivers, try this web-site. This also seems to be the same chipset as the A1 hardware version of the D-Link DWA-160 adapter.

WNDA3100v2 - Version 2 of the adapter. Uses the Broadcom BCM4323 chipset and other than the driver/software package from Netgear, I cannot find newer drivers on the Internet."

It should, even though it is NETGEAR brand, I've never had problems connecting to different routers and I use these adapters all the time. A Verizon hotspot should be no different
