I have 5.25" floppys.  Will they fit or is this for the smaller size?

Hi Patricia. Only works for 3.5" discs and it's not as good as your old computer that had floppy controllers on the motherboard. Unfortunately, no motherboard manufacturer puts floppy support on their motherboards. So we are stuck with these USB connected units and they are frustrating to use. Some don't work well at all.Try different brands but most are the same manufacturer. Move all your stuff off 3.5 to your hard disk. It's just a matter o0f time before you won't be able to find even these.

Question 2

Will this work with a windows 8 system?

Yes! Used with a new (then) HP Envy DV7 laptop from March thru August 2013 w/o issue. However, have not used the fdd since upgrading to Windows 8.1. Suggest not upgrading to Windows 8.1 until after you've finished with the fdd, just in case. Hope this helps!

Question 3

Barb's review says this will not read 720K diskettes, which is also what I am experiencing.

However, the specs say Data Capacity: 720KB, 1.25MB, 1.44MB.

Has anyone managed to read 720KB floppies on this?

(I chose this drive because the specs said it would read 720 and 1.44 whereas the cheaper Bytecc only specified 1.44.)

Hi, The only thing we use this drive for is 1.44MB diskettes so I don't know if it can actually read 720KB disks.

is this windows 97 compatible and will it read my old 3.5 with data?

Yes, to both questions. As long as you have an unused USB port (2.0 or 3.0) it will work. I converted all my old 3.5" diskettes to other types of media using mine.
