Is the monitor able to be placed on a VESA mount?

Yes. The included stand connects to the monitor by a VESA mounting plate.

Is there a way to turn off the blue front led? If not how distracting is it?

No, there's no way to turn it off.  I have two of these on monitor arms.  I barely notice the lights.  I suppose it might be distracting in dim room.  A small piece of black electrical tape is the 2 cent solution... the buttons are on the bottom edge.

I'm looking to get a monitor arm for this, how much does it weigh without the base?

I know the ergotech freedom arm worked well with it. Not sure on the exact weight though. I want to say around 13lbs?

The PPI is 108.89

For Reference if you had the same size monitor (27") in 1080 your PPI would be 81.59. As soon as I get the monitor in the mail I will be able to tell you how noticeable that increase of about 25% is. I hope it is, as otherwise that would be the point of 1440.

I cannot find dimensions anywhere (including MFG site).

I am most interested in total height w/stand.   Can someone check height desk to top of monitor bevel with the stand at the lowest setting.?

64.5cm wide, 39cm tall.  I measured 43.5cm at the lowest setting from desk to top of monitor, and it can go as high as 53.5cm.

How bad is the ghosting / motion blur? Any slow mo footage compared to a TN or VA 1ms?

I haven't really observed any ghosting and you can adjust the Overdrive feature to deal with it. Panel out-of-the-box settings is set to Overdrive setting to medium. It's also worth noting this is the first panel that has adaptive Overdrive, which while I don't know how it works exactly, seems to work better on dealing with image ghosting than standard Overdrive on other monitors.
