Can this screen display custom messages? For example "Hello world!"

Once you download the program listed on nMEDIA's website, you can absolutely display custom messages for just about anything.  It's actually a pretty versatile piece of software that controls the module.

I ended up adding a Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe cable card tuner to my HTPC, which eliminated the cable box (Yay!).  However, after a few weeks it became pretty annoying having to press INFO on my remote every time I wanted to know the time.  That's why I got this LCD unit.  It does a great job of displaying all kinds of custom information, stats and media center goodness, but I just wanted it to do the time and date.  After installation of hardware and software and a few adjustments to the normal clock display, I couldn't be happier.

Just be certain to clean the inside of the case where this LCD module will display through BEFORE you install it.  I got a little ahead of myself and ended up repeating the hardware install process because I smudged that plastic up during install and had to go back and clean it all.

Thank you guys so much, my second question: I think I read somewhere that it is a blue screen when I was looking for red. Can I change the colors, or is there a similar product out there for red lettering?

only in blue.. however you can check out other 3rd party lcd vendors and make sure you have the right size and you can get whatever you want. Crystalfontz makes lcds and I have gotten them before. not sure if they would have a red one..

Question 3

What are the dimensions?  I have some Ahanix cases where the VFDs have died or I can't get the parallel connection to work any longer.

Regardless of the dimensions,  this is a terrible display that nMediapc buys from a third party supplier and  that supplier offers No support and lousy software.  In my opinion the iMon VFD from Soundgraph is a  better alternative.

I have 2 nMediapc cases and both have been retrofitted with iMon displays. The PRO-LCD sits in my pile of junk.
