I currently have version 7 of this product.  Is there an update available, possibly for less?  Didn't see it on there web site.

I am not aware of an update but perhaps if you contact Nuance directly, they can help you out.  I have purchased both versions 7 and 8 for various staff at work and frankly I don't see too much of a difference. I don't want to lose a sale for NewEgg but if the upgrade costs more than a token, I would wait for at least one more version (just my opinion, by the way, I am an accountant, not a computer geek.)

Can this be used on a computer that has Windows 8?

I am using this on a Windows 7 64 bit computer. However, I know someone who is using version 7 on a Windows 8.1 computer with no problems. Therefore, I believe it will run on a Windows 8 machine.

I have version 7 and has recently stopped working is this 
have something to do with Xp being disolved?

I would just uninstall and reinstall and see if that helps, it should let you activate, I've had to do that on Windows 7, not sure what happens sometimes... I'm still using an older PDF Converter version  though.

It would appear that you may use it for a laptop and a desktop, but they are tracking each computer, so more than one user can not use this simultaneously.

Works with Windows 7, do not know about Word Perfect as I do not use that particular program.

Does this software work on Apple OS Mavericks?

No, it is a Windows application. Nuance writes separate versions for Mac.  However, the system requirements for Pro 8.0 are for Vista through Windows 8.
