Will this work with 1080Ti STRIX?

No, not particularly.  There are different versions of the hard plastic Nvidia SLI bridges.  - at least 3 of which I am aware.  HD, HB, and HF.  There is an even older one for certain lower numbered model cards that is a softer strap type of SLI bridge.

Go to the NVIDIA site, or call them, to find out which one is correct for your dual, or triple cards.  They usually only directly sell the most current bridge.  Right now, that is for their Pascal chip cards.  The Maxwell chip cards use an older version, which is what I had to get at Newegg for my dual Nvidia Titan Xs.  And, it works perfectly.  Note that Nvidia's "GTX Titan X" is a Pascal card.

Be careful, their model names are hardly distinguishable...    such as,  the variation between "Nvidia" and "GTX" as prefixes for two Titan X cards that are several years apart in design and capabilities.

Also, know which size you want both by slot spacing as well as by the number of cards that will be attached by the bridge.  Two cards with one or two empty slots between, three cards with no skipped slots, or other combinations.   Allow for the dual slot size of the cards when doing that count.

Is this for an external graphics card? if so does it only work with Nvidia?

This should work on external and internal graphics card, you have to make sure you're using the right spacing though (this bridge is for cards that are 2 PCI-E apart), and this works on any type of graphic cards that allow SLI

Will this work with sli 980ti's?

The previous answer is incorrect. I can confirm this model number is only compatible with 10 series cards (says so on the back of the box as well).
