how do i find a water cooler for gpu's? and how does one change it from the heat sink that the maker put on the gpu with a water cooler? or would it use both?

I would advise against the GPU bracket. The brackets such as the G10 will do more harm than good for your videocard.

If you look at some of the reviews they actually went and measured the temperature of the other components on the PCB, you would see components such as the RAM, vet very hot, and components such as the VRM's get dangerously hot, and that is with videocards not being overclocked.

When you spend nearly $100 to cool your GPU, it is assumed that you will be overclocking, and possibly volt modding the card to add a few hundred extra millivolts to the GPU.

You do this with a modern videocard, and you can be sure that the card will not last long.

Newegg rules do not allow us to link to outside sources, so you will have to google for them, but I recommend that you find a review of your card that has an image with the heatsink removed, then look up the datasheet on the VRM's. for one of the reviews i looked at which covered the GTX titan, with the G10 installed, the VRM's were running at above what the datasheet considered to be the overheat temperature (the VRM lacks a built in thermal shutoff so it will run at well above the thermal limits without causing issues. they will just have a significantly shortened lifespan.

If you want to liquid cool your GPU, Please look for a proper waterblock and do a custom liquid cooling loop. Do not use the X40 on your videocard, it will cool the GPU extremely well, but it will not do anything for the other components, the brackets also do not leave much space for any proper heatsinks, so you are stuck with a fan blowing on them which does not cool them adequately.

Can I mount 120mm Fans to this instead of 140mm?

no you cannot. The heat sink is specifically shaped for a 140mm. I bought this not paying attention to the size and I really needed a 120mm. this is the one I ended up purchasing. I don't know of any NZXT Kraken 120mm fans but you would have to buy that size for it to work with a 120mm fan. Plus they usually come with the correct fan size.

will this fit in the original phantom full tower?

If you are asking about the Phantom tower that has two 200mm fan slots at the top then the answer is yes with an adaptor.

What exactly are all the connectors for indvidually?

The connectors are for the fan on the radiator, the LED on the part that is mounted on the CPU, and for connectivity with the included software so that you can adjust fan speeds, LED color, look at temps, set a profile, etc...

If you installed the X40 on an Asus GTX770 Direct CU II OC GPU, would the pump block placing heatsinks on the VRAM ? I was considering using Enzotech BMR-C1 VGA Cooler heatsinks on the VRAM, but was unsure if the pump would hang over the VRAM chips.

I'm going to assume that you are using the Kraken G10 to mount it. If so the G10 gets in the way of more than half the VRAM. I don't know how else you're going to mount it but if you mod attach it without the G10 then you should have ample room. The pump is a little bigger than the size of a mandarin.

It literally goes from corner to corner of the four mounting holes. Take two strips of paper and lay them on top of each other and imagine a half circle on both the left and right sides of the cooler. Here are my estimated measurements: 4inx2in 3/4.

how well does this work with the Source 210 140mm fan mounts?

Cant say much about the physical mounting. Only can talk about the NZXT Kraken control software and its a MESS. Very quirky. Works sometimes and not others. I would stay away from the fan just because of the software. Otherwise keeps my over clocked i% @ 4.3 Ghz cool. But this is not a good combination cooler package....
