Does the MOBO power it? Or does it plug into the PSU directly?

MoBo powers the Lights on the block through a usb header on the MoBo, the fan(s) and radiator gets powered through either the CPU fan, or AIO header. search "How to Install the NZXT Kraken M22 Liquid Cooler" on youtube. It's the first video it might give you some insight.

Is the CAM software required to use the NZXT Kraken M22 RL?

The LEDs will glow a default White that moves around with the static logo, if you want to customize it you need to use CAM, but a warning, if you dont plug in the USB cable unlike corsair coolers you wont get LEDs at all.

Absolutely. I'm running it with a Ryzen 2700x, no problem. The cooler ships with a AMD CPU bracket and backplate for the MB, you have to swap out the former (it comes with the Intel version installed) but it's easy. Worth noting that for my MB (Asus ROG STRIX X470-I Gaming), I had to take a hacksaw to the MB backplate replacement so that it fit flush to the board and didn't interfere with other components mounted on board.

will This one work with a I9 I haven't found conformation possibly need a different model I wanted to keep it simple with one fan?

I don't see why not as long as it supports the i9 you're getting. I recommend getting a Noctua 3k RPM like i did. The included fan is quite shite imo. Noctua fan: N 82E1 68356 08052

By "NZXT" I assume you mean the NZXT logo.  It does appear that you can turn the logo off and still have the mirror effect displayed.  The mirror effect is called the "Ring" in the CAM application.  I love the many effects you can choose.

Would this work on a NZXT Kraken G12?

The NZXT Kraken G12 is a GPU cooling block. The one you have linked is a CPU cooler. So for that reason it would not work as a gpu cooler. If you are trying to replace the tubes and radiator, I would contact the manufacturer to get a warranty.
