 this controller work for 120mm LED fans?

I have two of these controllers, on two different computers. Both computers have 120 & 140mm LED fans. 2-top, 2 side, and on the front. Fan LEDs will decrease and increase with fan speed. Size is not important, but you can only use 1 fan per plug, or you will overload that output channel. The two on the top, are mounted to take the heat out. One computer all orange LEDs, the other all green.

Question 2

When you turn off the computer do you lose all the current settings?

In my experience with it, no, you do not lose your settings. I haven't fully explored the setting memory capabilities yet, as i have my sensors in places that don't correlate with any specific fan for the auto fan control to go off of, but for manual fan speed control settings, it keeps your settings. My unit has even kept the settings with the computer unplugged for a short time. On a side fyi type note, upon startup, the fans on the control unit WILL go full speed for about five to ten seconds before dropping down to your manual setting. I wish i could be more helpful about the auto speed control, but the way i have my setup isn't exactly as the designers of the control unit anticipated. If you get one, hope you're as happy with it as i have been.

Does this connect to the motherboard at all? If so how long is the cable? And what is the long black cable in the last picture?

No it does not connect to the mother board for any help to make it run or function. you have 5 sensor wires that you place at various locations of motherboard where you have heat issues.like GPU,CPU,Memory,Southbridge,Northbridge to monitor those areas. the only thing it connects to is the power supply to share the power between the fans and control center...the black cable is more sensors for replacement just in case sensors are damaged this unit works very well a very good buy easy to install and use. hope i helped you....

Can this control multiple fans? If so, how many can it control at once?

It has 4 separate channels, or the ability to control all at once. Also gives your fans a nice little speed boost over just using the mobo fan controls.

Does this work with CPU coolers?

It works with 3 pin fans, if your cpu cooler uses a 3 pin fan header then yes, but you need at least one fan hooked up to the mobo cpu header.

Does this work with all NZXT cases?

The fan controller isn't limited to just NZXT cases. As long as your case has a 5.25 bay and mounting holes it should be just fine. I have had mine in a Corsair 600T as well as a Bit Fenix Prodigy.

dose this require you to use all four Molex connectors to power 5 fans?

You cannot power more than one fan per connector, for example: using a Y adapter to power two fans from a single connector would overload the controller.  You need to use all five fan connectors to power five fans.  If you don't need to power five fans then you can leave any unused connectors disconnected.

Will it mount into a case with tool less 5.25" drive bays (I.E Thermaltake Chaser A31)?

To Max,

Max, as long as you have an open 5.25 bay, it should mount and line up with your case mount system. Most tooless cases use spring loaded pins or plastic tabs to lock into the screw holes of the component being inserted in the bay, so it shouldn't be a big ordeal to get it to work.
I'm not sure which method is used on your particular case, but it should work with no modification needed.  This unit is fairly light, so it doesn't need or require a slew of screws to hold it in place.

In the images it looks like you are showing two separate units? See the lower images there is a taller screen which displays the time? Is this a separate unit?

You don't get that bottom larger piece with this.  You get only the controller which fits in the 5.25" bay like a disc drive.  Whatever that bigger thing is, it is either an addon device or it's from a different controller.

Question 10

Does this controller jut out of the bay? I have a door on my corsair 550d and I'm worried I won't be able to shut the door.

The front bezel measures about 1.68" x 5.85". If your bay opening is larger than that, it should mount flush. If your bay opening is narrower, say 5.65" wide, it will probably protrude out about 0.10" because the bezel is a little wider than the surfaces that extend back into the case. The other thing to consider is that the side mounting holes sit back about 2.06" from the front surface of the bezel.
