I want to clone my laptop HDD to a new SSD will this adapter cable work for this application, without any other adapters?

Yup it sure will. I've used this cable several times to clone a few hard drives now and its excellent. I just cloned another hard drive yesterday after not using it for awhile and it still works. If you're looking for software to use install mini tool partition wizard, it does what its suppose to do and I've never had a problem.

I purchased a Samsung 840 EVO solid state drive for my MacBook Pro mid 2010 laptop.  The installation instructions show using a cable to move data from the existing hard drive to the new Samsung.  Is this cable compatible with both the Samsung drive and my computer?  Also, is the OKGEAR OK4250 2.5 inch SATA to USB 3.0 Adapter Cable compatible with both my computer and the new drive?  The difference appears to be USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 compatibility with my computer.  My computer probably has USB 2.0, but I'm not certain.

This will work fine with any sata drive, regardless of drive technology (ssd or standard). Mine uses 2 usb ports, one for power the other for data transfer.
It will work with windows 7 pc's with usb ports 2.0 or 3.0
the 2.5 restriction is only for the rubber case, which it will work without the case

What do the LEDs indicate?  There is a green and red LED.  I have it connected and both are lit.

When operating normally the red LED indicates power to the drive and the green one indicates disk access.

I have a w2.5 in WD HD which was removed from a failed laptop. I want to use it for a backup drive for my desktop using one it its USB 2.0 ports ports. This appears to be what I want. Comments please?
